By reading her analysis of different artists and songs readers can gain a clearer look into their own record collection as well as the record collection of potential mates.

               A key part that makes this book interesting are the playlists found at the end of each chapter. Throughout Smith’s book she talks about several artists both obscure and mainstream. She gives us a tour of her own personal record collection and gives us the stories and people who influenced her to add the songs to her collection. These playlists help the reader to remember all the music they read about so they can be easily looked up and listened to.
