Book Review: Forbidden By: Karla Sorensen

I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book.

CAWPILE Rating: 8.43/10

Overall I felt like this was a very solid 4 star read. It was not perfect, but I had an enjoyable time reading this book.

Forbidden tells the story of retired boxer turned gym owner Aiden. Aiden is a single dad who recently experienced the loss of his wife. Isabel is the manager of gym Aiden purchases. She was a long time admirer of Aiden who now finds herself walking the line between professionalism and admiration.

Characters- 9/10 Characters was one of my highest rated category for this book. I felt like Aiden and Isabel were very well crafted characters and they felt like truly real people. As someone who hasn't read any of the other books in this series I don't believe I was missing out on anything by not reading the previous stories.

Atmosphere- 7/10 This was one of my lower rated sections simply because I feel like the only place we saw in this story was the gym, which wasn't necessary a bad thing, but by only seeing one location mainly and a few other locations a little bit I feel like the world was not rounded out as much as it could have been.

Writing- 8/10 Again this was a very high rating. This was my first time reading a book by Karla Sorensen, but it will not be my last. I felt like her writing style was very approachable and felt very much like listening to a friend recount her stories.

Plot- 8/10 Like most romance books, I pretty much knew where this story was going, however there were enough sprinkles of the author's creativity throughout the story that made this read worthwhile.

Intrigue- 7/10 The only thing holding this one back for me personally was the single dad trope. It was done very well, however it is not my favorite trope to read. So this lower rating is a me problem, not the book's fault.

Logic- 10/10 Overall this story was 100% logical. This story could have happened in real life and I would absolutely believe it.

Enjoyment- 10/10 I thoroughly enjoyed reading Aiden and Isabel's story and I look forward to picking up more stories in this series.
