The Beauty of the Voice, Sort Of

I'm a fan of the show The Voice I really am. There's just one little flaw in the plan that I'm waiting to see how it plays out.
For those unfamiliar with the show, The Voice, is NBC's new talent show where contestants are given the opportunity to sing in front of four big talents in the music industry- Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cee Lo Green. The twist is in that the four judges don't get to see the contestants during the auditions until after they decide whether they want the contestants on their team for the show.
This seems like a cool concept. By hiding a person's looks and identity in theory the show gives anyone regardless of looks, age, etc an opportunity to participate in the show. Thus the show is about the voice and not the looks.
Ok. That is an awesome idea. I love that people who would normally not have a chance at an entertainment career are getting that chance. But let's be realistic. How far are they really gonna get in a mainstream singing career without looks being a factor? Take contestant Frenchie Davis. Yeah. She has a killer voice. And the amazing voice took her pretty far on American Idol and helped her score a stint on Broadway in the musical Rent. And even Cee Lo knew who she was. She had the avenue to be something huge, but why wasn't she. She obviously wants to be something huge or else why would she keep going on these shows?
It might be cynical to say, but looks really are important for a career in entertainment. I really do hope that I'm wrong about this. I hope some average looking person makes it to the end and wins The Voice and goes on to a successful career, but I suppose we will see in time.

My thought is this: Ultimately, it does not matter what the person looks like who wins the show. There are several reasons for this. A)Makeup can cover any and all facial flaws, B)They'll be able to afford a trainer/new wardrobe. Yes, looks matter more than even talent in the music industry. But if someone is really good, it doesn't matter, because you can create good looks; you can't create innate talent
