Getting to Know Joan

The Book of Joan tells the story of the late Joan Rivers through the eyes of her daughter Melissa Rivers. Both women are a combination of very well known in the public eye, while at the same time they both are pretty mysterious and some may say misunderstood in the public eye. There's no denying that Joan had a special something about her. She had a particular way of presenting herself to the public. A book representing her life would not be doing her justice if it did not live up to Joan's funny, if not occasionally off the wall, sense of humor.

This book brings readers into the life of Joan. Included in the book are some really great scans of primary documents from Joan's life, a bunch of great, funny quotes from Joan herself, and a few really fun lists- like the list of dating advice Joan gave to Melissa.

The carefully selected stories are funny, compelling, and add a bit of realism to a woman who seemed so glamorous and outrageous in front of the camera.

If you're looking for a fun summer read that also has some teachable moments, I would highly recommend giving this book a try.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
