America's Favorite Sport

A few years ago I became enthralled by the sport of baseball. It was one of those afternoons where nothing was on TV, it was rainy, and I felt like having something on tv, but I did not necessarily feel like watching something. So I turned on an O's game and starred semi blankly at the TV. I'm not a huge sports watcher. I can follow along and generally know what's going on. It's not that I dislike watching sports, it's just that I'm not a fan of watching sports either. I'm more the apathetic sports watcher. So upon watching this baseball game I really fell in love with watching this sport.

There's something about the camaraderie, the pace of the game, the history, and some combination of factors that really draws me in as a watcher of this game.

As someone who is new to the sport I didn't really know anything about George F. Will going into this book. I also didn't know a lot about the Chicago Cubs or Wrigley Field. But that's the great thing about great books- you can start the book not knowing anything and end the book knowing a lot.

The book reads a lot like a series of conversations with my dad- or a dad like figure. Will incorporates little stories about his connection with the Cubs along with the history stories of the Cubs. These aren't your typical, textbook history stories. They're fun, conversational, witty stories about the game.

Whether you're new to the game of baseball or someone who has been a fan for decades, this book has a little something for everyone and is an enjoyable, quick read for a nice spring day.
